USB Cable Squeeze to Fix Low Voltage Condition

Have you done the USB Cable Squeeze Yet?

In August and September of 2021, we found that a significant number of customer problems with WiFi and Bluetooth reliability were due to a low voltage condition inside the RV Whisper Monitor Station (RVM1 and RVM2 systems).

There is a SIMPLE FIX recommended for all customers:  Simply squeeze the larger connector that is on one end of the USB power cable.  That’s right, just unplug the USB Cable from whatever you are using for USB power, and squeeze the large connector (the USB A Connector).  You can squeeze the USB A Connector between your thumb and a table top, or you might need to use both thumbs (one on top of the other) depending on your finger strength.

The squeeze should be enough to make inserting the USB cable into the USB Power Port much more difficult.  Here is an image that shows both an “unsqueezed” and a “squeezed” USB cable connector.

The “USB Squeeze” has fixed the following problems for many customers:

  • WiFi reliability
  • Bluetooth reliability
  • Slow performance
  • System suddenly not connecting to WiFi
  • System would rarely connect to WiFi

And, as always, if you are having problems, you can just email support@rvwhisper.com to get help.
