Troubleshooting the WiFi Connection for your RV Whisper Monitor Station
If your RV Whisper Monitor Station (RVM1 or RVM2) is not connecting to your WiFi network, or if your RVMx-xxxx Local WiFi network can not be seen, or the RVMx-xxxx WiFi network appears and disappears every few minutes, here are troubleshooting steps to fix the problem. It is best to do them in this order:
- Do the USB Cable Squeeze (Important!) to make sure the USB power connection is nice and tight. WiFi and Bluetooth radio reliability are very much affected by a loose USB power connection. Many customers report that just doing the USB Cable Squeeze solves their WiFi connection and Bluetooth sensor problems.
- If the USB Cable Squeeze does not solve the problems, continue on with the following steps.
- Note that if the below steps also do not work, you can try a different USB power cable and/or USB power adapter.
- Verify that the green LED light is on inside the monitor station. The green light is inside the case, right next to where the USB power cable is attached. The green light should come on within a few seconds of plugging the monitor station in to USB power. The green LED (light) will flash during “disk activity”. If the green LED light does not come on within a few seconds of plugging it in, even after doing the USB Cable Squeeze, contact support@rvwhisper.com to coordinate replacement of your RVMx Monitor Station.
- Forget all WiFi network passwords and settings on your RV Whisper Monitor Station:
- Temporarily turn off all WiFi hotspots / routers / networks that the RV Whisper system has ever tried to connect to. Don’t forget your mobile phone hotspots, home WiFi networks (if you are near your home), campground networks, etc… You may have to take your RVMx away from the campground network to do this procedure.
- Connect to your RVMx to “Forget All WiFi Settings:
- Either Use the RV Whisper Launcher phone app -> Login over Local WiFi -> Settings (gear icon) -> Network -> Forget All WiFi Settings
- Or use a laptop to:
- connect to your RVMx-xxxx local wifi network
- go to http://10.1.10.1
- Login with user: rvadmin, password: rvadmin
- Click Settings (gear icon) -> Network -> Forget All WiFi Settings
- contact support@rvwhisper.com if the “Forget All WiFi Settings” button is not displayed in your version of the RV Whisper software.
- Turn your WiFi router / hotspot back on.
- After your RV Whisper Monitor Station reboots (about 2 minutes), and your WiFi router has started up, use the “Login over Local WiFi” button on the RV Whisper Launcher phone app to connect your monitor station to your WiFi network.
