LevelMate
LevelMate Devices as an RV Whisper Sensor
With the release of RV Whisper software version 4.737, you can now add any LevelMatePro device as a sensor to your RV Whisper Monitor Station.
If you need to update the software on your RV Whisper Monitor Station, software update information can be found here: Software Update Information
While any LevelMate bluetooth leveling device can be added to your RV Whisper Monitor Station as another “sensor“, it is important to understand the the “LevelMatePro+” version is better suited to integrate with RV whisper due to its USB power option. Currently, there are 3 versions of LevelMatePro:
- LevelMatePro (battery power only)
- LevelMatePro+ (USB power or battery power)
- LevelMatePro OEM (12Volt hardwired)
The LevelMatePro version is only powered by a battery and if configured to be “always on” (so RV Whisper can always log data from it), the battery will only last a month or two before it needs to be changed. More about LevelMatePro battery options below.
Also, note that if your RV came with a LevelMatePro already installed by the RV manufacturer (LevelMateOEM), it is powered by your 12 Volt house batteries so it is a great candidate for integrating with RV Whisper. It will be on all the time so RV Whisper can log data from it at all times.
The RV Whisper Monitor Station connects to the LevelMate device over wireless Bluetooth, the same as the LevelMate phone app. The RV Whisper Monitor Station logs all LevelMate data and lets you view the most recent as well as historical data on your phone, tablet or computer.
When the Monitor Station is connected to WiFi in the RV, data from the RV Whisper Monitor Station can be securely seen over the internet with any smart phone, computer or tablet. Email and text alerts can also be sent when connected to WiFi in the RV. See How it Works.
An example of an Alert Trigger for LevelMate data that can be set in RV Whisper is “Alert me when Off Level is greater than 1° for more than 30 minutes”.
LevelMate devices work with the free Android and iOS LevelMate phone apps. These apps are used to configure the LevelMate device and to display real time data when near the RV (within Bluetooth range – about 50 feet). The LevelMate phone app is used to help level your RV when you arrive at a new campsite – that does not change if you integrate your LevelMate device with an RV Whisper system. The RV Whisper integration logs the LevelMate data so it can be visualized and have alerts set for it, just like any other sensor in RV Whisper.
Up to 10 LevelMate devices can be added as sensors to a single RV Whisper Monitor Station.
Now you can see if one side of your RV settles overnight on soft ground, or perhaps a rain storm caused the front of your RV to drop. RV Whisper lets you graph the historical level data so you can see when the change happened.
RV Whisper logs this data from LevelMate devices:
- Off Level Angle
- Roll Angle
- Pitch Angle
- Side Height Off Level
- Front Height Off Level
- Degrees F
Email and Text Message Alerts can be automatically sent based on any of the data logged in the RV Whisper monitor station database.
If you already own a LevelMate device, you can add it at anytime to your RV Whisper Monitor Station.
Note about Battery Usage for LevelMatePro and LevelMatePro+:
If you have a LevelMatePro or LevelMatePro+, the default configuration is for the LevelMatePro to go into low power mode an hour or so after the RV stops traveling. If left in this default mode, RV Whisper will log data when the RV first starts traveling (the motion wakes up the LevelMatePro and LevelMatePro+ from low-power mode), and up to one hour after the RV motion stops when the LevelMatePro or LevelMatePro+ go back into low power mode.
If you use the LevelMate phone app to change the behavior to be “always on”, then RV Whisper will be able to log data every few minutes continuously. The LevelMatePro is powered by a coin cell battery and it will be depleted in a month or two if configured to be always on. The LevelMatePro+ allows you to remove its coin cell battery and instead power it from a USB power outlet with a USB cable.
